Section R904.3 is titled 'Material specifications and physical characteristics' and covers the requirements for roof covering standards. A requirement for roof covering materials to conform to the applicable standards listed in this chapter is established. (There are over 85 standards listed in this chapter.) The purpose of this section is to protect the structure from weather and prevent roof coverings from detaching from the building.
