R902.4

Section R902.4 is titled 'Rooftop-mounted photovoltaic panel systems' and covers the requirements for fire classification of products mounted on a rooftop which convert sunlight into electrical energy. A cross-reference to 2 standards which cover testing, listing, identification, and fire classification of photovoltaic panels, and a requirement for specific classes of photovoltaic panel systems and modules to be installed where required by jurisdictional law, or where the edge of the roof is less than 3 feet from a lot line is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire.
