R802.6

Section R802.6 is titled 'Bearing' and covers the requirements for roof-ceiling structural bearing. The minimum dimension of rafter and ceiling joist bearing, dependent on the material being bore on, and where a wood sill plate is used between roof-ceiling members and masonry, the minimum bearing area of the sill plate is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
