R802.4.6

Section R802.4.6 is titled 'Collar ties' and covers requirements for roof-ceiling construction. The requirement for collar ties to be located in a certain location, fastened in accordance with a table in this code, to be a minimum size, and spaced a maximum distance, as well as the allowance for ridge straps in accordance with a table in this code to be an alternative for collar ties is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
