R802.1.5

Section R802.1.5 is titled 'Fire-retardant-treated wood' and covers the requirements for wood products manufactured using chemicals which significantly slow the spread of fire. One of two standards which wood products must be tested to, and additional criteria which provides evidence of slow combustibility is established. The purpose of this section is to establish a basis in slowing the spread of fire. (Fire treated wood is often colorized red for marketing purposes, but is not required. The manufacturer's labeling should be inspected to assure wood has been compliantly fire-retardant-treated).

The model shows a sheet of plywood which has been treated with fire-retardant chemicals.
