Section R703.9 is titled 'Exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS)/EIFS with drainage' and covers requirements for wall coverings. The requirement for EIFS to conform with this chapter and a section of this code, and for EIFS with drainage to conform with this chapter and another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent detachment from the structure, water intrusion, and premature degradation, as well as to slow the spread of fire.
