R703.8.2

Section R703.8.2 is titled 'Exterior veneer support' and covers requirements for wall coverings. In certain seismic zones, the allowance for anchored stone or masonry veneer to be supported by wood or cold-formed steel framing designed to support such load and which has a maximum deflection, and the requirement for a movement joint between veneer supported by framing and veneer supported by the foundation is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent detachment from the structure.
