Section R703.7.2.1 is titled 'Weep screeds' and covers requirements for wall coverings. The requirement for exterior plaster to be provided with a weep screed of certain materials, a minimum vertical flange dimension, installed in a certain location in accordance with a standard, a minimum distance above earth or paved areas below, and which is overlapped by the weather-resistant barrier, as well as covered by the lath which terminates on the flange is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent water intrusion, mold development, premature degradation, and detachment from the structure.
