R703.5.3

Section R703.5.3 is titled 'Horizontal wood siding' and covers requirements for exterior wall coverings. The minimum lap for horizontal wood siding being in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, or where no such instructions exist, in accordance with the laps stated in this section, dependent on whether the siding is rabbeted or not is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent water and wind damage to the building.

The model shows 2 examples of horizontal wood siding - the 1st is lapped 1"; the 2nd is rabbeted and lapped 1/2".
