R703.5.2

Section R703.5.2 is titled 'Panel siding' and covers requirements for exterior wall coverings. The maximum stud spacing where panel siding may be directly applied to the studs, dependent on the thickness and orientation of the panel, and details for vertical and horizontal joints of panels is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent water and wind damage to the building.

The model shows a partial wall section with studs 16" o.c. and partial pieces of wood structural paneling being installed with vertical and horizontal joints shiplapped over studs and blocking.
