R703.11.1.2

Section 703.11.1.2 is titled 'Penetration depth' and covers requirements for exterior wall coverings. The requirement for vinyl siding fasteners to be driven into building framing, unless specifically allowed by the manufacturer to only penetrate into sheathing, and the minimum penetration depth into framing or through sheathing penetration only is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent water and wind damage to the building.
