R702.3

Section R702.3 is titled 'Gypsum board and gypsum panel products' and covers the requirements for gypsum board and gypsum panel products installed on the interior of a building as wall and ceiling coverings. This section does not have any language, but has subsections which cover technical details of gypsum board, gypsum panel products, adhesives, and related accessories. The purpose of this section is to prevent failure and premature degradation of gypsum board and gypsum panel products and to slow the spread of fire.

The model shows 4 different types of gypsum board, some which have colored facings for marketing purposes and to make it easier to determine that they are intended for certain specific purposes, such as moisture, mold, and/or impact resistance.
