Chapter 7 is titled 'Wall Covering' and covers (no pun intended) the requirements for interior and exterior wall coverings, including underlayment barriers. The purpose of this chapter is to regulate materials and methods for the purpose of slowing the spread of fire and protecting the structure from weather. While some of the materials covered by this chapter may be used as wall bracing, this chapter does not address structural wall bracing- see chapter 6 for wall bracing requirements.
The model shows 2 pieces of gypsum board (referred to as 'drywall')- one for general use and the other for use in areas subject to moisture (referred to as 'greenboard'), as well as vinyl siding and brick veneer.
