R608.6.5

Section R608.6.5 is titled 'Location of reinforcement in wall' and covers requirements for wall construction. Excepting for a specific wall covered by another section of this code, the requirement for exterior concrete wall reinforcement to be located within a maximum distance from the center of the wall is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure and premature degradation of reinforcement bars.

The model shows 4 x-rayed wall sections of 4", 6", 8", and 10" thick, with the allowed variance which reinforcement may be located from the center highlighted, and reinforcement bars located at those limits.
