Section R606.6.1 is titled 'Bearing on support' and covers the requirements for the bearing of masonry walls. The minimum percentage of bearing that each wythe of a masonry wall must bear on the supporting element is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a brick veneer wall (single wythe) being installed on a concrete foundation wall with 2/3 of the thickness of the wythe bearing on the foundation wall.
