Section R606.12.2.1 is titled 'Minimum length of wall without openings' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for masonry walls to have a minimum percentage without openings in accordance with a table in this code, the minimum length of a wall section which may be considered as contributing to the total length, the maximum clear distance allowed between wall sections, and shear wall segments required to conform with another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
