R603.3.4

Section R603.3.4 is titled 'Cutting and notching' and covers requirements for wall construction. The disallowance for the cutting or notching of the flange and lip of a cold-formed steel stud or header is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a stud which has had a section of its flange and lip notched and cannot be used as a full height stud.
