Section R602.10.4 is titled 'Construction methods for braced wall panels' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for braced wall panels to be constructed in accordance with this section (which includes subsections), and a table in this code which lists 16 different types of panels is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure. (It is worth noting here that the table establishes abbreviations for each type of bracing and for the sake of brevity, refers to bracing by those abbreviations in other sections of the code).

The model shows two braced wall panel examples - the 1st is wood let-in-bracing (LIB); the 2nd is wood structural panel (WSP). Note, that per another section of this code, a wall covering may be required on the opposite side of the bracing (not shown for clarity).
