R507.4

Section R507.4 is titled 'Deck posts' and covers the requirements for single level wood deck columns. A cross-reference to a table which lists the allowable size beams to be used in conjunction with a cross-reference to a table which lists the maximum height of deck posts is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows 5 deck posts at their maximum allowed height. The 1st row of table R507.4 has a footnote which allows for an increased height, where the beam has a limited amount of plies. Both the standard and footnoted versions are shown.
