R505.1

Section R505.1 is titled 'Cold-formed steel floor framing' and covers requirements for floor construction. The requirement for cold-formed steel used for floor construction to be free of defects that would affect structural performance, and for framing members to be in accordance with this (main) section is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure and premature degradation.

The model shows a bookshelf full of codes and standards and a bent cold-formed steel framing member which may not be straightened out to be used as a floor joist. (Though, it may be cut into smaller pieces and used for connections, stiffeners, or similar purposes).
