Section R406.3.4 is titled 'Backfill' and covers requirements for foundation dampproofing. For wood foundations, the requirement for the remainder of backfill, placed over that required by section R406.3.3, to be of the same type of soil as was removed during excavation is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
