R404.1.9.2

Section R404.1.9.2 is titled 'Masonry piers supporting floor girders' and covers requirements for foundation construction. The allowance for masonry piers to support girders sized in accordance with another section of this code, the minimum width and maximum height of the pier, dependent on the load it is supporting, connection of girder to pier details, and girder bearing in accordance with another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
