R404.1.3.3.6.1

Section R404.1.3.3.6.1 is titled 'Stay-in-place forms' and covers requirements for the use of stay-in-place forms used for placing concrete and which may also serve to provide insulation for the foundation walls. A list of criteria to which stay-in-place forms must conform to and methods of protection is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire and prevent premature degradation of the forms from sunlight, physical damage, and termites.

The model shows sections of stay-in-place forms - one is made from rigid plastic, and the other is made from expanded polystyrene with plastic cross-ties which also serves to insulate the foundation wall.
