R403.1.3.5.2

Section R403.1.3.5.2 is titled 'Location of reinforcement in wall' and covers the requirements for placement of vertical reinforcing bars in a concrete foundation stem wall relative to the wall thickness, and the amount of concrete cover that reinforcing bars must have in Seismic D locations. The location of vertical reinforcing bars relative to the centerline of the concrete foundation stem wall, and a cross-reference to another section of this code which provides the details for the amount of concrete cover reinforcing bars must have is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
