R403.1.1

Section R403.1.1 is titled 'Minimum size' and covers the requirements for sizing footings. The footing width and thickness determined from cross-referenced tables and figures based on soil load-bearing values from another cross-referenced table, footing projections, footings for fireplaces being based on another section of this code, and specific details for footings supporting columns, wood foundations, and precast concrete foundations is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
