R324.6.2.1

Section R324.6.2.1 is titled 'Alternative setback at ridge' and covers requirements for solar energy systems. Where a fire sprinkler system is installed in accordance with another standard or section of this code, the requirement for a minimum dimension setback from the top of the ridge, dependent on the percentage of total roof coverage by a photovoltaic array is established. The purpose of this section is to mandate adequate space, (allowing for an increased percentage of array coverage where fire sprinklers are installed), for safe emergency operations around rootop solar energy systems.
