R322.2.3

Section R322.2.3 is titled 'Foundation design and construction' and covers requirements for flood-resistant construction. The requirement to build foundation walls in flood hazard areas in compliance with another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to limit damage and loss to buildings and structures due to flooding, which are constructed in areas prone to such. This section has an exception which allows another section of this code to be followed where the foundation does not exceed certain criteria, and which clarifies how to define the criteria. The purpose of this exception is to allow for foundations with certain criteria to comply with a specific section of this code.
