R322.1.4.2

Section R322.1.4.2 is titled 'Determination of impacts' and covers requirements for flood-resistant construction. The requirement to determine flood risks in a specific topography, and to prevent flood elevation increases which exceed a specific amount is established. The purpose of this section is to limit damage and loss to buildings and structures due to flooding, which are constructed in areas prone to such.

The model shows a riverine area which has not been designated as a floodway and a portion of land that was raised to construct a house which is causing an excessive increase of the design flood elevation within the jurisdiction. This shouldn't happen if built in accordance with this section.
