R322.1

Section R322.1 is titled 'General' and covers requirements for flood-resistant construction. The requirement to construct, substantially improve, or repair substantial damage of buildings and structures in certain flood zones in accordance with this (main) section, clarification on how to apply this code when a building or structure is in more than one flood zone, and a cross-reference to another standard which buildings and structures must comply with when they are constructed in a floodway is established. The purpose of this section is to limit damage and loss to buildings and structures due to flooding, which are constructed in areas prone to such.
