Section R317.3.3 is titled 'Fasteners for fire-retardant-treated wood used in exterior applications or wet or damp locations' and covers requirements for protection of fire-retardant-treated wood fasteners from premature degradation. The coatings and/or materials of fasteners used with fire-retardant-treated wood in exterior, wet, or damp locations is established. The purpose of this section is to reduce premature degradation of fire-retardant-treated wood fasteners used in exterior, wet, or damp locations.
