Section R317.2 is titled 'Quality mark' and covers requirements for protection of wood and wood-based products from premature decay. The requirement for pressure-preservative-treated wood to be marked by the inspection agency which assures the wood is treated in accordance with a standard is established. The purpose of this section is to assure treated wood is readily identifiable for its intended purpose.

The model shows a sheet of pressure-preservative-treated wood structural panel and 2x4 which are each marked.
