R317.1.2

Section R317.1.2 is titled 'Ground contact' and covers requirements for protection of wood and wood-based products from premature decay. The requirment for wood in contact with the ground, embedded in concrete in contact with the ground, or embedded in concrete exposed to the weather that supports specific types of structures, to be treated in accordance with this section, excepting for where it is continuously below ground water level or submerged in fresh water is established. The purpose of this section is to reduce premature degradation of wood and wood-based products.
