R314.7.3

Section R314.7.3 is titled 'Permanent fixture' and covers requirements for systems that detect and warn of fires. The requirement for a household fire alarm to be a permanent fixture of a dwelling, owned by the dwelling owner is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent fire alarm systems from being installed and then potentially removed in the future by a company, (who often also provides monitoring services) when a dwelling unit owner decides to cancel such services.

The model shows the x-ray of the skin of a dwelling, with an enlarged fire alarm system device and lock to symbolize that the system must remain with the dwelling and be owned by the dwelling owner.
