R311.8.3

Section R311.8.3 is titled 'Handrails required' and covers requirements for ramps. The requirement for a handrail on the sides of ramps which exceed a certain slope is established. The purpose of this section is to mandate that when ramps are installed that they are constructed to reduce the risk of trip, fall, entanglement, and bump hazards as well as to provide an efficient pathway between different levels.
