Section R306.4 is titled 'Water supply to fixtures' and covers requirements for sanitation. Requirement for connection of plumbing fixtures to an approved water supply, and fixtures which are required to be connected to both hot and cold water is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent the spread of disease.

The model shows a water heater, and five plumbing fixtures including a kitchen sink, lavatory, shower, laundry sink, and washing machine which must be connected to the water heater as well as the cold supply. (Not shown, but which are also included in the list of fixtures which are required to be connected to both hot and cold water, are a bathtub and bidet).
