R302.2.3

Section R302.2.3 is titled 'Continuity' and covers requirements for townhouse fire-resistance rated construction. The requirement for a fire-resistance-rated assembly separating townhouses to be continuous from foundation to the roof sheathing or deck, and for the rating to extend the full length of the assembly, including between attached enclosed accessory structures is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire, heat, and smoke between adjacent units.
