R301.2.4

Section R301.2.4 is titled 'Floodplain construction' and covers the requirements for the design and construction of a structure taking areas prone to flooding into consideration. The applicability of another section of this code for structures in a flood hazard area, requirement for applying provisions for the most restrictive flood hazard area where a structure is in more than one flood hazard area, and cross-reference to another standard where a building is located in a floodway is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure, damage to electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and release of hazardous materials into the environment.
