R301.2.3

Section R301.2.3 is titled 'Snow loads' and covers the requirements for the design and construction of a structure taking snow loads into consideration. The types of construction and the maximum snow load for which this code may be used, and an allowed design method when such maximum snow load is exceeded is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a framed roof section with snow building up on top of it, and the effect that snow can have on the roof. This model is only intending as a conceptual display, and does not necessarily represent real world physics.
