Chapter 8 is titled 'Interior Finishes' and covers requirements for materials inside a building, such as wall, floor, and ceiling coverings or systems, whether functional or decorative. The purpose of this chapter is to slow the propagation and spread of fire, heat, and smoke; affording time for occupants to exit and first responders to mobilize.
