Chapter 30 is titled 'Elevators and Conveying Systems' and covers elevators and conveying systems, such as car lifts, conveyors, moving walks, wheelchair lifts, and escalators. The purpose of this section is to protect users from injury, provide communication systems for emergencies, slow the spread of fire and smoke, adequately size equipment, and provide emergency access, controls, and power, for equipment, equipment rooms, lobbies, and hoistways.
