Chapter 13 is titled 'Energy Efficiency' and references the International Energy Conservation Code which covers the construction of buildings for the purpose of promoting efficient energy use through:
•Installation of materials with higher thermal resistance.
•Management of solar heat gain.
•Reduction of unintended conditioned air leakage.
•Requiring appliances and lighting fixture lamps to meet efficiency standards.
•System controls, such as programmable thermostats, to provide occupants the ability to set automatic energy use reduction.
